The Excelsior Lady Eagles improved their record tonight to 2-2 with a victory against a scrappy Upland Christian team by the score of 54-34 in the Hesperia Christian Tournament. Loui Salazar led the Eagles in scoring with 12 points, 6 steals, 5 assists, and rebounds with 9.
Sarah Humphrey was second in scoring with 10 points with 5 rebounds of her own. Cheltzie Brumett started the game with a hot hand making her first four shots, and finished 4-7 with 8 points and 2 rebounds.
Katie Bevan scored 9 points and had 6 rebounds, while Kory Washington was second behind Salazar with 8 rebounds of her own. Bevan was also 5-6 at the free-throw line.
The Eagles led by double-digits almost the entire game, leading 16-5 after the first quarter, 31-11 at halftime, 44-17 after the third, and ended with the score 54-34.
Courtney Sillings stepped up and had a huge game off the bench scoring 6 points while grabbing 3 rebounds. She also led the team in blocks on the night, finishing with 3.
Renee D'Espyne had 2 blocks off the bench late in the game, and Shay Long grabbed 4 rebounds throughout the duration of the contest.
Angie Dionne and Carly Pence played defense for the final few minutes with no stats to report.
Alex Rueger scored 2 points and grabbed 3 rebounds, while Jeni Arreola scored 2 points and had 2 rebounds of her own.
The Excelsior Lady Eagles will play again Friday, December 10th against Arrowhead Christian @ 4:30.
